Remember, the moves are only for the sword you have at the time, with each different sword you have to learn new moves. When you gain a new move a thing will pop up naming it and showing the combination that sparked it again. Basically, just try obvious button combinations, involving square, triangle, directions and R1. I don't want to say you have to mash buttons to get them, but that is one method. +- Gaining Moves -+- When you are fighting, you already know that you have your 2 main attacks, weak and strong, but you can also come up with custom moves for each sword. Careful, saying the wrong thing or drawing your sword at the wrong time, could throw off the story and ending you were trying to get. Usually there are several responses you can give, each bringing a different response and sometimes outcome. Obviously when you are being spoken to and asked questions it will show up, but sometimes while your fighting a higher ranking enemy it will allow you to talk during the battle. When the little icon on the bottom right hand of the screen lights up, that means someone is talking to you and you can respond, or you can say something to someone. +- Talking to people -+- Almost half of the decisions you make in the game, are by speech (the other half by what you do with your sword). There are certain areas in the map where there are turnip fields, fighting in these has a definite advantage, since whenever you need it, just kick them up. This tactic is especially useful during a fight, since you don't have to stop and pick it up, meanwhile you're being attacked. Or if you have your sword out, you can block and use that same button and kick the item up. You can use the square button to pick these items up when your sword is sheathed. This can be done through consuming items like turnips, mushrooms, fish, and other various things you might come across. Basic Gameplay.II - Basic Controls: L1 - Draw your sword X - Jump (while moving) O - Talk (when icon flashing) X - Confirm Speech (when in speech menu) Square - Pick up Item (when sword sheathed) Square - Weak attack (when sword unsheathed) Direction Pad - Move Character Triangle - Strong Attack (with sword) R1 - Block L2 - Retreat Quickly (when sword drawn) -+- Healing Items -+- Obviously in a game when you have to fight, you have to be able to heal yourself. If you know anything about the game, I have chosen to cover only the four main walkthroughs (there are actually 6 endings) but these are kind of the obvious ones.
